I have 3 Nest Protects in the house, the Leeo detected the CO2 alarm one the first shot but it never detects the smoke alarm on subsequent tests. Since this is a dual function alarm is it correct that since it detected the CO2 portion I also am covered for a smoke event?
Pressing the alarm “test” button emits a four fast beeps (CO alarm portion) followed by three beep sequence (Smoke alarm portion) two times. Leeo will be able to pick up the smoke sequence but will not pick up the smoke sequence.
The reason for this is that combination alarms are a bit trickier for the Leeo to pick up using the app’s “test-mode” because their ‘test’ button tends to go through both the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide sequence (one after the other) without any breaks in between. The Leeo test mode feature was meant for stand alone smoke and co alarms – where you would test one alarm, wait a few minutes and then test the next alarm.
Out of test mode (in a live event), Leeo is looking for 2-3 sets of the same beeping pattern to detect a real smoke or co alarm to limit false alarms. In a real emergency, your combination alarm would only sound the alarm for the specific emergency it detects (smoke or co sound sequences).
You can test this by recording the smoke alarm sequence using a phone or other recording device and replaying it on a continuous loop.
